Basscamp Festival Lineup

Monday, November 28th, 2011

We have been rather busy over the last few months and forgotten to be posting up our recent projects. Over the next few days I’ll be trying to catch up. Lets start with Basscamp, we’ve been involved in this one from the start, a new festival coming to Morzine that we will be producing. We’ve put together a fun filled lineup of artists crossing many genres. We think it’ll be a lot of fun.

We’ve been promoting the event at Freeze Festival and the MetroSnow show in London and following this we have articles coming in various national publications.

Watch this space for developments on this one, its going to be exciting.

Filthy Beats returns to Leicester..

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

We’re back with our fourth year of Filthy Beats in Leicester. This time opening up with Danny Byrd. He’s been a familiar face at FB over the year’s and we’re honoured to be hosting him again at our new home of Thread, Yeoman St.

He’ll be joined by dubstep veteran Cookie Monsta, DMC finalist Jon 1st plus our very own Demo Mode and many more.

The November event is with none other than Rusko. Again, should be a good one. Get down early.

European Tour with Phantom Limb

Monday, September 26th, 2011

The next little European adventure is with Phantom Limb. We’ve been working with these guys for a while helping out with their logistics at gigs throughout the UK. They’ve now asked us to provide logistical management for their European tour throughout Holland, Belgium and France. Their month long tour will be driven by our resident splitter van ‘Nobby” (named so because of his numberplate NBY).

Okoru Ski Trip, Chamrousse, France

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

We’ve been doing events in the alps for longer than I care to remember, but though we’ve produced countless ski/boarding and music events out there, we’ve never put on our own ski trip. So here it is. £165 for your accommodation and ski pass in Chamrousse, France. We’ve done this for all you folk who’ve always seen snow trips as too expensive, so come along and have a go! We’re working with our good friends Rowan and Nathan at Nortlander UK on this one.

The emphasis with this trip really is on the skiing, not the apres parties as usual, so we will be putting on entertainment but nothing too crazy! To get involved in the trip, or to promote your own similar ski trip with friends, please get in touch.

To book up on our trip follow this link www.nortlander.co.uk/vibes.

New Lightboxes – Syndicate + Bunker, Bristol

Since our first lightbox for Jack Wills in April, they have been flying off the shelves in various different sizes. We’ve now put two into Syndicate Club (Broadmead, Bristol) and two into Bunker (Triangle, Bristol) and orders for a few more on the way. Our trusty make-anything-given-5-minutes man Loz (also resident DJ Assassin) will be kept very busy for the next few months in the warehouse! Get in touch for light boxes of any size, any shape… lets give Loz a challenge for once!

Strawberry Fields Festival

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Last weekend, as well as dropping into both Notting Hill Carnival and Shambala Festival, we joined our friends at Velocity Sounds at Strawberry Fields Festival in Leicestershire. They produced an ambisonic surround sound using 8 separate stacks of Funktion1 in a ring, supported by some clever audio engineering.

We organised some of the programming in the dance tent including Fingerlicking funky beatmeister A Skillz and Nu:tone, Logistics + MC Wrec on the Sunday. Other festival performances included Kissy Sell Out, Funkagenda Live, Rizzle Kicks and Kelis.

Pukkelpop

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

The Chateau stage at Belgium’s Pukkelpop festival, near the town of Hasselt, was apparently destroyed when bad weather caused trees to fall over. A second stage collapsed but it is not thought to have fallen on any concertgoers. Some giant screens also fell down.

There were varying reports of casualties, but the mayor of Hasselt said two were killed and 40 injured.

Cullen Omori, of the band Smith Westerns, who was on the stage at the time, tweeted: “Stage collapsed max almost got crushed by the trees. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our —- is broke.” He later tweeted: “Apologise to anyone who mistook tweet. Wrote directly after running offstage. Just found out the extent of damage. All of prays go out.”

Jared Leto, the actor and frontman of the US band Thirty Seconds to Mars, wrote on his own microblogging site: “Four stages down – still raining + thunder if you are here please be safe.

“Serious injuries at he festival. More bad weather poses heading this way. Please take care and caution.”

Pukkelpop, which started on Thursday is an annual three-day event with headlining acts this year including the Foo Fighters and Eminem. Reports say some 60,000 people are attending the event. In 2009 it attracted some 180,000 people over the course of three days. It has been running since 1985.

Last year, the festival attracted controversy when the lead singer of the British electropop group Ou Est Le Swimming Pool died. Charles Haddon, 22, leapt to his death from a telecommunications mast behind the main stage. Another musician, 60-year-old Michael Been, the former frontman of the US band the Call died after suffering a heart attack.

The stage collapse is the second such fatal incident in less than a week. On Sunday, at least five people were killed and more than 40 injured when a sudden storm caused a concert stage to collapse in during the Indiana State Fair in the US.

Our thoughts are going out to the families of those who lost their lives.

Hamswell Festival

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

On 12th – 14th August nestled in a hidden valley somewhere between Bath and Bristol Okoru said a big hello to Hamswell Festival. This year Hamswell brought a mouth-watering lineup comprising Nicky Blackmarket, Radioactive Man, Dr Syntax, Hyperpotamus, 2′s Company, Concrete Disco and a whole host of others.

“Our aim is not to to make the festival bigger each year but to continually expand its artistic horizons.” Love the vibe guys. And thanks for taking care of the new gear. Another great trip out for www.rentdjequipment.co.uk.

Standon Calling Festival

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Deep in the Hertfordshire countryside you find one of the finest boutique festivals in the land. The only festival with it’s own swimming pool, the event is set in the spectacular grounds of Standon Lordship drawing in a plethora of international bands to include Lamb, Africa Express & The Correspondents. Taking to the next level was the Okoru managed iconic Cow Shed. Built over three weeks, it transforms animal shelters which, even the animals have abandoned into one of the latest night venues (running until 6am) in festival land. Massive thanks to Dollop DJs providing the tunes but highest accolade belongs to Bristol boy Julio Bashmore for the Cow Shed’s crowning set of 2011. Congratulations GMC Events, Analogue Live and everyone else involved.

Greenwich Summer Sessions

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

When you take possibly the most beautiful grounds of a park in London and combine it with an all star line-up of performers from all genres, you get Greenwich Summer Sessions. Set in the Royal Naval College this 6 day festival was something truly special. We were brought in to provide all site, supplier and production management alongside our friend Tom Solly at GMC Events. With a £2k fine for any paving slab damaged (everything is listed!!!) it was quite a feat but we pulled it off for the second year in a row to deliver the best Summer sessions yet!

Mark Ronson’s first performance after Amy Winehouse’s death was a truly emotional one! The international press were down to report and by all accounts it was a great event. We are already looking forward to our 2 weeks in London next year.

The food in Greenwich Market and especially Lisa Meyer’s Yum Bun, who had a back stage stall at our event, we were really impressed with. Anyone down at Broadway Market please check them out!! Or get them down to your event!!
