Okoru were down at Secret Garden Party last weekend helping out with the Valley of Antics, Badger and Gaia Soundscape stages. We provided DJ equipment, multiple projector installs and other management services. Our resident DJ Rexphile also performed on both the Gaia Soundscape and Lizard Lounge stages alongside friends Bass6 and Reeps1 (UK Beatbox Champion). Check out this link for all the best photos;
This week Okoru were down at The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich providing site management services to the Summer Sessions Event. Acts included The Levellers, Jools Holland, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, I Am Kloot, and Athlete.
Huge new track from dubstep producer Benga featuring Katy B. We expect big things from her over the next few years. This track is gonna be huge in the latter part of this summer! Watch out!
Whilst helping produce a festival in Holland, it just so happened to be the world cup final, Holland vs Spain. What do the crazy dutch do rather than risk no-one turning up? They get laods more LCD wall panels, hook up giant visuals on the main stage, cut the music for two hours and let the festival watch it together! Epic, until they lost..
Okoru have been appointed to produce, source and liaise all musical elements of the British Ski and Snowboard Championships. We will also be sourcing comedians and other entertainment to keep the crowds going throughout the week long event in Laax, Switzerland. Having provided sound, light, visuals and DJ equipment last year, plus a number of artists, they have now asked us to do the entire entertainment management. We’re stoked to be working with the Soulsports team again and hope for another fantastic event this year, as I’m sure it will be!
Thanks to everyone who came down to On the Pond 2010, a lot of fun was had by all. The Freestylers, Utah Saints, Mullet, Hungry Man, T-Rex, Assasin and DJ Switch all ripped the place apart and took the crowd on a musical adventure like no other! It’s funny to think a year ago, Okoru didn’t exist. We have made outstanding progress over the last year with our events production, talent and entertainment services and roster growing constantly. Our website has been neglected as we have had so many immediate projects that required our full attention.

We are pleased to announce we will be managing the production of On The Pond 2010. Working with the ‘Off The Piste’ organisers, we will be seeing through the stage and site production, lighting, sound, visuals plus artist booking and liason. We take this opportunity to work with Dirt Sound System for the first time. Dirt operate one of the most influential sound systems in the south west and we look forward to doing more events with them.

Having smashed onto the scene this year, we have cemented ourselves as the one option for musical entertainment in the alps. Since November we have performed and produced over 50 events in 6 different countries. Djing with David Guetta and Pendulum at the X Games, organising stage production, artist management and liason for BUSC (British University Snowsports Council), The Brits (British Ski and Snowboard Championships), Jib-Vid, Swatch TTR and Snowbombing to name a few. This winter we have hosted Chase and Status, Pendulum, Kissy Sell Out, Stanton Warriors, Nero, A Skillz, DJ Switch, DJ Woody, Rodney P, Kid Sid, Assasin + MC Laurent and of course our residents Urban Knights and T-Rex.

So……. We’ve been very busy at Okoru, so much so that we’ve neglected our website for the last few weeks. Here’s a little update on what’s been happening during the second half of December and so far in the new year…
Varsity trip – Running the entire musical production of the trip went off without a hitch. We took out a crew of 21 including artists, photographers, videographers, stage builders, sound engineers, lighting designers to professionally manage and capture the entire event. Kissy, Pendulum and Chase + Status smashed it alongside our resident DJs and the Urban Knights to a crowd of around 3,000 ravers in a purpose built tent in Tignes. Whilst in Tignes we played a number of gigs at venues throughout Tignes Le Lac and Val Claret at Loop Bar, Couloir Bar and Melting Pot nightclub. One night Gareth from Pendulum decided to join us for a 200 person intimate gig at Melting which went down a storm with Varsity punters, tourists and seasonnaires alike! Off The Piste + Wastelands – Parties on the Piste
We rocked a -22 degree party in Les Deux Alpes for Wastelands Ski and a -10 degree party in Val D’Isere for Off the Piste tour operators. The cold didn’t stop the raving though, we supported a freestyle competition at both events with Fat beats and basslines and took the partying into the evening for the participants of Loughborough, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham uni ski trips.
Snowbombing Tour De Dance 2010!
After much up and down’s with various sponsors we have a headline sponsor for our tour of the alps, Snowbombing Festival! The ‘Snowbombing Tour De Dance’ kicked off yesterday with a return to Tignes, Loop Bar and Couloir as the venues of choice. Watch this space for updates…
It’s that time again… the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show is back to bridge the gap from autumn to winter and start the season with the UK’s biggest snow show held at London’s Olympia. Kicking off the season Okoru will be hosting all the music, sound and light production on our custom built stage.
Collaborating with Altitude Festival and XFM expect a varied, stimulating visual and aural delight showing off some of the best music talent to hit the hills this winter. Headlining the Okoru Gigloo the UK’s pioneering audio visual act, The Urban Knights, loaded with their latest footage and digital trickery expect a eclectic tunes and a 5 day party to remember.

Natives Workers Party

For the first stop on The Natives Show Love Tour, Okoru in conjunction with alpine rockers Mullet are taking over the Imperial Students Union. Following our launch at the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show we are taking the party into the wee hours bringing you the first late night session of the season with the most hoofing tunes you will hear in the Alps this winter. Cheap drinks, excellent music and a wintery reunion of epic proportions, see you there!
